ETCS deployment in Germany

Jörn Schlichting is one of our keynote speakers on Wednesday, who will present current trends and visions.

The presentation is about the ETCS deployment in Germany covering current projects, the German contribution to the new European Deployment Plan signed in January 2017 as well as the DB strategy to rollout a new signalling technology across the entire country based on a new generation of digital interlockings and ETCS without signals. Fibre optic sensing forms an integrated part of that vision.

Jörn Schlichting, one of the two directors of the ETCS Programme of the German rail infrastructure manager DB Netz AG, has more than 25 years rail signalling track record. Before joining DB in 2011 he worked for Invensys Rail Ltd. in the UK and Siemens Transportation in Germany amongst others as delivery director and project manager for large rail infrastructure projects in China (Maglev) and the Netherlands (HSL Zuid). Jörn Schlichting studied Mechanical Engineering at the Carolo Wilhemina University in Braunschweig.
